NOBLE ALLOYS MIDWEEK: Ferro-tungsten prices receive a boost from tightening supplies

 Spot ferro-tungsten prices outperformed the rest of the noble alloys in the first half of the week, drawing strength from thinning supplies and firm Chinese prices.

Metal Bulletin’s price assessment for ferro-tungsten gained 30 cents on the high and low end of the range to settle at $35.50-36.80 per kg, in-warehouse Rotterdam, on Wednesday November 22. Buyers raised their bids with availability of cheaper material fading in Europe, and replacement costs from China holding firm in November. “The Chinese price is the flagship price, and they know there’s no need to lower their offers,” a trader source said.
