Australian Vanadium Expands Coates Project Tenements

Australian Vanadium (AVL) has been awarded two exploration licenses at the Coates project near Wundowie in Western Australia.

The Coates project hosts a vanadium-titanium magnetite deposit, with the new tenements broadening AVL’s land holding to 111.6 square kilometres from 59 square kilometres.

AVL is working with Lithium Australia NL and Mercator Metals to expllore the Coates project, and will continue to do so under new tenement applications E70/5588 and E70/5589.

Tenement application E70/5589 will cover potential extensions of the mafic complex to the project’s east.

The E70/5588 tenement is located north of where platinum and palladium animalism was previously identified, and AVL believes the tenement may reveal it to be larger than currently defined.

AVL managing director Vincent Algar said there is significant value in exploring the Coates project’s tenements, which are located 28 kilometres away from the nickel-platinum group elements discoveries that Chalice Gold has made.

“The results from AVL’s geological compilation of the historical Coates Project data, in addition to recently released co-incident nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum group elements (PGE) soil anomalism on adjacent LIT ground, strongly supports the value of this ground in the search for additional nickel-copper-PGE discoveries such as those at Julimar and Yarahwindah,” he said.

“Ground in the area is now extremely sought after and AVL is pleased to be able to add to the existing portfolio with these new applications.”

AVL is now planning to undertake further geochemistry and airborne electromagnetic surveys at thee Coates project, with both methods proven to be successful at finding exploration targets in the area.
