China To Impose Additional Tariffs On U.S. Goods Worth USD75 Billion

Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced on 23 August that China will impose additional tariffs on U.S. goods worth about USD75 billion.

According to the announcement, the U.S. decided to impose an additional tariff of 10% on Chinese goods worth about 300 billion from 1 September and 15 December, 2019 respectively, which further escalated the China-U.S. trade friction, greatly damaged interests of China, U.S. and other nations and severely threatened the multilateral trade system and free trade principle.

In response to the abovementioned U.S. decision, China has to take countermeasures. Based on laws, regulations and basic principles of international laws, Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council got the approval from the State Council and decided to impose additional tariffs of 10% and 5% on U.S. goods of 5,078 tax items worth about USD75 billion, starting from 12:01 of 1 September and 12:01 of 15 September, 2019 respectively.
