Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy price rises rapidly

Date: Sep 13, 2018

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Sep 18 – Due to the shortage of raw material vanadium pentoxide and the uncertainty of the price increase, the prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy rose. The mainstream prices for vanadium-nitrogen alloy have risen to RMB437,000-440,000/t (USD82.66-83.23/kg V) Inc-VAT EXW D/P, up by RMB20,000/t (USD3.78/kg V) from last week. Due to the tight supply of vanadium-nitrogen alloy, some producers raised the price to RMB460,000/t (USD87.01/kg V) Inc-VAT EXW D/A six months directly. In view of the high prices of the raw material, Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices are expected to rise rapidly in the coming week.

A vanadium-nitrogen alloy producer in North China claimed that they offer RMB460,000/t (USD87.01/kg V) EXW D/A six months for the material currently, up by RMB30,000/t (USD5.67/kg V) from last week. But they have concluded no deals at the price so far. He noted, “Currently, the raw material vanadium pentoxide is not available, and price from major producers is RMB270,000/t (USD18.21/kg V) temporarily. But it is also difficult to get the product even at RMB290,000/t (USD19.56/t). Under such circumstance, no vanadium-nitrogen alloy producers would like to accept orders at low prices.” He revealed that they last sold 5t of vanadium-nitrogen alloy at RMB445,000/t (USD84.17/kg V) Inc-VAT delivered D/A six months early this week. He predicted that Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices would rise rapidly in the coming week.
