Chinese Vanadium Pentoxide Flake Prices Drop
BEIJING (Asian Metal) 22 May 19 – Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min are RMB119,000-122,000/t (USD8.0-8.2/lb V) EXW D/A 180 days, down by RMB9,000/t (USD0.6/lb V) from last week. Consumers only make purchase according to urgent need and the market keeps quiet. Insiders believe prices of this material would continue dropping in the coming week.
A producer in Northeast China quotes for their vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min at RMB120,000/t (USD8.0/lb V) EXW D/A 180 days, down by RMB8,000/t (USD0.5/lb V) from last week. “We are producing for other company now and the products are not belong to us. I heard main producers all quote at RMB120,000/t (USD8.0/lb V) at the moment, down by RMB50,000/t (USD3.4/lb V) from one month ago,” said the source. Their last deal was made early this month, when they sold 30t at RMB160,000/t (USD10.7/lb V). Considering the demand keeps weak, he believes prices of this material would drop to RMB115,000/t (USD7.7/lb V) in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 4,800t for vanadium pentoxide flake, the producer produced 260t in April and expects the same volume in May, holding 30t of stock now.
A producer in South China claims their vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min at RMB122,000/t (USD8.2/lb V) EXW D/A 180 days and can accept RMB120,000/t (USD8.0/lb V) for firm bids at the moment, down by RMB10,000/t (USD0.7/lb V) from last week. “We are producing for the signed contract now. One European client sent inquiries to me this Monday that they want to buy 20t at no more than USD7.7/lb V, about RMB115,000/t (USD7.7/lb V),” said the source. Their last deal was made early last week, when they sold 30t at RMB130,000/t (USD8.7/lb V). He believes prices of this material would drop by RMB3,000/t (USD0.2/lb V) in the coming week as inquiries are hard to see.
With an annual production capacity of 1,350t for vanadium pentoxide flake, the producer produced 50t in April and expects the same volume in May,
holding no stock at the moment.
