Chinese Vanadium Pentoxide Flake Prices Edge Down
BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Dec 19 – Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min stand at RMB92,500-95,500/t (USD6.11-6.15/lb V2O5) EXW D/A 180 days, down by RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb V2O5) from last week. As the demand of downstream vanadium products keeps soft, consumers refuse to buy raw material at high price level. Insiders believe that prices of vanadium pentoxide flake would stay weak in the coming week.
A producer in North China quotes their vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min at RMB96,000/t (USD6.34/lb V2O5) EXW D/A 180 days and can accept RMB95,500/t (USD6.31/lb V2O5) for firm bids more than 60t, down by RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb V2O5) from last week. “Our last deal was made early last week, when we sold 32t at RMB96,000/t (USD6.34/lb V2O5). I received an inquiry for 64t from one of our regular clients this week. As the purchase volume is considerable, we offered a discount of RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb V2O5),” said the source. They are in no hurry to accept new orders at the moment. He believes that prices of vanadium pentoxide flake would stay steady in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 10,000t, they produced 800t in November and expect the same volume in December, holding about 300t of stocks now.
A consumer in South China noted the current price for vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min he received keeps at RMB92,500/t (USD6.11/lb V2O5) EXW D/P, down by RMB500/t (USD0.03/lb V2O5) from last week. “We bought 64t during the past week. 32t for 93,000/t (USD6.15/lb V2O5) and the other 32t for RMB92,500/t (USD6.11/lb V2O5),” said the source. Few suppliers would like to accept lower prices now and I believe that prices of vanadium pentoxide flake would keep steady in the coming week.
With an annual consumption capacity of 1,800t, they consumed 1,500t in 2018 and have consumed 1,300t so far this year. They expect to consume 120t in December, the same as November, holding 90t of stocks now, up by 30t from last month.
