Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake prices in stalemate

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Feb 18 – Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min are RMB177,000-180,000/t (USD12.99-13.21/lb V) EXW D/P, unchanged from last week. Consumers just purchase from hand to mouth with flat market demand, so market participants hold not much confidence and prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake are expected to be in stalemate in the coming week.

“Now prices for vanadium pentoxide flake in international market keep at high level with prices for vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min standing at USD14.0/lb V in European market.  China has great advantages in vanadium pentoxide flake export, but without much demand now, we are watching the market all the way and did not adjust our offer for the material,” a producer in South China said.  The company mainly produces vanadium pentoxide flake and high ferrovanadium with major customers from international market. Currently, the lowest price for vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min that they can accept stands at RMB180,000/t (USD13.21/lb V) EXW D/A six months, unchanged from last week. The source predicted that prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide flake would keep weakly stable in the coming week.

With capacity of 1,500tpy, the source produced 100t of the material in January and expects to produce 50 in February, with 50t of stocks in hand for the moment.
