BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Sep 19 – Currently, mainstream prices for Chinese vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min stand at RMB129,000-133,000/t (USD8.4-8.7/lb V2O5) EXW D/P, down by RMB2,000/t (USD0.1/lb V2O5) from last week. As prices of downstream vanadium products keep soft, consumers refuse to buy raw material at high price level. Insiders believe prices of vanadium pentoxide powder would drop slightly in the coming week.

A producer in Southwest China quotes their vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min at RMB133,000/t (USD8.7/lb V2O5) EXW D/P and can accept RMB132,000/t (USD8.6/lb V2O5) for firm bids, down by RMB2,000/t (USD0.1/lb V2O5) from last week.. “Our last deal was made early last week, when we sold 20t at RMB134,000/t (USD8.7/lb V2O5),” said the source. He added, “Our regular client just wants to buy at no more than RMB130,000/t (USD8.5/lb V2O5) at the moment as their prices for downstream vanadium products keep dropping.” He believes prices of vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min would drop to RMB130,000/t (USD8.5/lb V2O5) in the coming week.

With an annual production capacity of 2,400t, they produced 150t in August and expect the same volume in September, holding 30t of stocks now.

A consumer in Northeast claimed the lowest quotation for vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min he received stands at RMB129,000/t (USD8.4/lb V2O5) EXW D/P at the moment, down by RMB2,000/t (USD0.1/lb V2O5) from last week. “We buy vanadium pentoxide powder as raw material to produce Al-V alloy. However, the demand and price of our goods stay soft at the moment. We haven’t received any inquiries this month,” said the source. He believes prices of vanadium pentoxide powder would drop by RMB1,000/t (USD0.1/lb V2O5) in the coming week.

With a consumption capacity of 300tpy for vanadium pentoxide powder, they consumed 260t in 2018 and have consumed 160t so far in 2019. They consumed 20t in August and expect 15t in September. They have 20t of stocks now, unchanged from last month.
