Chinese Vanadium Pentoxide Powder Prices Stay Firm
BEIJING (Asian Metal) 30 Jun 20 – At present, mainstream prices of Chinese vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min stand at RMB104,000-107,000 (USD6.8-7.0/lb V2O5) EXW D/P, unchanged from one week ago. Most suppliers prefer to watch the market due to the soft demand and the market stays calm. As there is no clear signal for prices change at the moment, insiders believe that mainstream prices of vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min would keep steady in the coming week.
“We quote RMB107,000/t (USD7.0/lb V2O5) EXW D/P and didn’t change during the past week. To be frank, we didn’t close any deals at this price level during the past two weeks,” a producer in South China said. Their last deal was made late last week, when they sold 10t in total. Among them, 5t for RMB106,000/t (USD6.9/lb V2O5) and another 5t for RMB105,000/t (USD6.9/lb V2O5). As inquiries stay rare, they could hardly increase their quotation. He believes that mainstream prices of vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min would stay steady in the coming week.
With a production capacity of 700tpy, they produced about 315t in 2019 and only about 110t so far this year. They produced about 30t in May and expect the same volume in June, holding about 30t in hands now, down by 10t from last month.
“We quote vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min according to prices of vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min from major producers. We insisted on RMB106,000/t (USD6.9/lb V2O5) EXW D/P and didn’t change during the past week,” another producer in South China said. Their last deal was made about one week ago, when they sold 20t at RMB104,000/t (USD6.7/lb V2O5). They bought 20t of raw material ammonium metavanadate 98%min at RMB98,000/t (USD13.9/lb V2O5) about 10 days ago. Supported by the cost, he believes that mainstream prices of vanadium pentoxide powder 98%min would stay firm in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 1,000t for vanadium pentoxide powder, they didn’t produce in 2019 and just resumed production from this March. They produced about 180t in so far this year, holding about 25t in hands now, down by 5t from last month.
