EVRAZ North America Announces Senior Leadership Changes

EVRAZ North America today announced senior organizational changes made to position the company for continued growth and long-term success, including naming leaders to the new positions of chief commercial officer and chief performance officer.

Jerry Reed, formerly head of the company’s long products business, was named chief commercial officer, a role created to execute the company’s long-term sales and marketing strategy, lead new product development and champion strategic customer relationships.

Matthew Perkins, head of the company’s Canadian operations, has been appointed chief performance officer. As CPO, Perkins will drive the company’s continuous improvement and operational excellence strategy and implementation across EVRAZ North America business units.

“Jerry and Matthew are talented leaders with extensive experience in the steel industry and beyond,” said Skip Herald, president and chief executive officer of EVRAZ North America. “I am confident in their ability to execute our strategy of exceptional operational performance, unmatched quality, and a desire to continuously improve.”

Reed joined EVRAZ North America in 2011, with earlier roles heading the company’s corporate development function, serving as chief commercial and business development officer for EVRAZ Highveld Steel and Vanadium in South Africa, and most recently as executive vice president, long products, in North America. Perkins joined EVRAZ North America in April 2019 as senior vice president, Canadian operations, a role he will temporarily retain. Perkins began his career in the steel industry in 1991 and has managed various steel mills and operations in the United States and Europe.

Also Tuesday, the company appointed Don Hunter as senior vice president of the Portland business unit. Hunter previously had been head of the company’s flat products sales team. He joined Oregon Steel Mills in 1988. Ben Lutze, long-time vice president and general manager of EVRAZ’s North America’s mill in Pueblo, Colo. was named senior vice president of the Pueblo business unit.
