Former Anglo execs launch digital metals marketplace Metalshub

Two former executives at Anglo American have launched commodity technology firm Metalshub, a digital marketplace for the platform-based trading of metals and ferro-alloys.

The platform is initially handling chrome, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, niobium and vanadium, with over 100 companies comprising miners, trading firms, steel mills and foundries already pre-registered to use the platform. Metalshub was co-founded last year by Sebastian Kreft, Anglo’s former head of nickel sales, and Frank Jackel, Anglo’s former head of ferro-alloys, who worked together at the mining company in London. The platform also offers other services including logistics, “Know Your Customer” due diligence, credit insurance, assaying and quality assurance, plus trade and receivable financing.
