Inner Mongolia Sets Upper Limit For Steel Capacity At 36 Million Tons

On June 28, Li Zhongkai, the Director of Department of Industrial and Information Technology of Inner Mongolia clarified the upper limit of production capacity in key industries. During the 14th Five-year Plan period, the production capacity of iron and steel industry is set at 36 million tons, primary aluminum at 7 million tons, ferroalloy at 14 million tons, coke at 60 million tons and calcium carbide at 15 million tons, and the backward and excessive capacities should be eliminated as soon as possible. From 2021 to 2023, the restricted capacity in iron and steel, ferroalloy, calcium carbide, coke and graphite electrode industries will be withdrawn in an orderly way.
