Invinity Energy Systems Announces Plans To Create Solar Grid In Southern California

Invinity Energy Systems PLC (AIM:IES), the manufacturer of energy storage systems, said it is part of a consortium developing a solar-plus-storage microgrid project.
The consortium, led by Indian Energy, will also create a large vanadium flow battery system under the California Energy Commission’s long-duration energy storage program, it said in a statement.
Subject to talks between Invinity and Indian Energy, the project is expected to be delivered to a site in Southern California in 2023.
“We have been working for some time with the California Energy Commission and are looking forward to concluding the contract for what we expect at delivery will be North America’s – and Invinity’s – largest flow battery,” said chief executive officer of Invinity Larry Zulch.
Invinity also issued a trading update, where it said it completed the sale of a total of 2.1MegaWatt hour (MWh) products since 29 September.
Progress continues to be made on delivery of batteries against its backlog of orders, it said, and its board believes the company’s cash position is being “appropriately managed”.
