Italy’s Beltrame To Invest 300 Mln Euro In Rebar, Wire Rod Plant In Romania

Italian steel bars and special steels manufacturer AFV Beltrame Group said on Monday that plans to build a rebar and wire rod plant in Romania – an investment project worth an estimated 300 million euro ($355 million).
The new production plant will include a greenfield steel and rolling mill and a 100MW solar park, Beltrame Group said in a press release.
Currently, the company is considering several locations for the development of the new plant which will have a production capacity of approximately 600,000 tonnes of rebar and wire rod per year.
The investment will create approximately 250 new direct jobs locally and some 1,000 indirect jobs.
“The project will mark an unprecedented progress in the steel industry due to its design and innovative technologies, which will enable us to minimize pollutant emissions generated in the production activity. It is a project in which we invested a lot of work, time and dedication, and through this investment, the group shows its commitment to achieving environmental goals and harnessing local resources,” AFV Beltrame country manager for France and Romania Carlo Beltrame said.
The group is already present in Romania through Donalam, which was established in 2006, following Beltrame’s acquisition of the Siderca hot rolling mill in Calarasi.
Beltrame was founded in 1896 and manufactures steel products for use in construction, shipbuilding and excavation.
