Job Fair To Be Held In Follansbee Following Closure Of Coke Plant

Since the announcement of the Mountain State Carbon Plant closure many local groups have been looking for ways to help the workers that are most impacted.
On Thursday, March 24 at the Follansbee Community House, there will be a manufacturing job fair that’s set to include 10 employers aiming to help everyone in the area that’s looking for work.
“It was a big surprise to them,” Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce President Brenda Mull said. “They had no idea it was coming, so naturally there is a lot of devastation on what to do. We don’t want to see families leave the area, No. 1, and they’re not all from Follansbee. They’re from different areas, and we want to try and work with everyone involved and get them the jobs that they need.”
Employers set to attend the fair: Bellofram Corporation, Jupiter Aluminum, Maple manufacturing, Wheeling-Nippon Steel, Inc., AMG Vanadium, Lauttamaus Communications, Maxwell Welding and Machine, Inc., JLB Construction, Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet metal, Lombardi Development Company.
