Lithium Australia Weighs Options Vanadium Resource

Lithium Australia added a maiden vanadium resource of 185 million tonnes grading at 0.33% V2O5, the company announced in a news release today.

The company released its mineral resource estimate for a portion of the Youanmi Complex in the mid-west region of Western Australia.

The company said it “does not consider vanadium a core part of its business” and is planning a strategy for the resource within its portfolio.

“Lithium Australia is heavily invested in the battery industry. That said, the company acknowledges the competition from alternative technologies in the battery field; in particular, vanadium flow batteries,” said the company in a statement.

“Lithium Australia will evaluate the potential to form partnerships that leverage its current position with respect to vanadium.”
