Shaanxi Huamu Begins To Import Ferrovanadium

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 26 Aug 19 – As prices of Chinese ferrovanadium are higher than international market, Shaanxi Head-Moly Industry Co.,Ltd. started to import ferrovanadium and they imported 20t from European market last Friday.

“A Russian supplyer sold us 20t of ferrovanadium 50%min this Friday and the price is RMB126,000/t (USD35.5/kg V) CIF Tianjin. The goods were shipped from Rotterdam and we received at Tianjin port. We are looking for buyers in China now,” said the source of this company. As prices of international vanadium market are more competitive than domestic market, more and more companies are trying to import. Shaanxi Head-Moly is only one of them. According to Asian Metal, China imported 72t of ferrovanadium in June and 110t in July. The volume keeps increasing in August.

Shaanxi Head-Moly is a traditional production and export enterprise of molybdenum bars for steelmaking. They are doing ferrovanadium trading business now for the substantial profit margins.

This Monday, mainstream prices for Chinese ferrovanadium 50%min stand at RMB135,000-138,000/t (USD38.1-38.9/kg V) EXW D/A 180 days, unchanged from last Friday.
