Shangluo Tianye to Resume Ammonium Metavanadate Production Soon

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Jul 19 – A source told Asian Metal that, Shangluo Tianye High-tech Materials Technology Co., Ltd., with an annual production capacity of 1,000t of ammonium metavanadate, has finished equipment maintenance at the moment and plans to resume production in the near future. Before that, the company has suspended production for two months.

“We started overall equipment maintenance in early May and now have finished the maintenance. Besides, we originally planned to resume production on July 1, but the local environmental protection team of Shaanxi was making inspection at that time and most enterprises stopped extracting vanadium from stone coal and shut down with only one or two large companies in normal production. We plan to resume production after the departure of the environmental protection team,” a source from this company said. He noted, “Our company mainly produces ammonium metavanadate 98%min and 99%min and the products with high purity are used by ourselves as raw material to produce vanadium-aluminium alloy.” The company plans to produce 30t of ammonium metavanadate 98%min and 10t of ammonium metavanadate 99%min in July.

The company is located in Shangluo, Shaanxi, which is one of the most concentrated areas for stone coal mines in China; many enterprises do business by extracting vanadium from stone coal there.

This Thursday, mainstream prices for Chinese ammonium metavanadate 98%min are RMB115,000-118,000/t (USD7.7-7.9/lb V) Inc-VAT EXW D/P, unchanged from yesterday. As demand is insufficient in market and transactions at high prices are difficult to be concluded, most large producers stop making quotations affected by high costs. Thus, it is believed that prices for Chinese ammonium metavanadate would keep weakly stable in the coming week.
