Technology Metals Test Work Confirms High Vanadium Recoveries

A DFS is underway aimed at producing high purity vanadium pentoxide from the Gabanintha Vanadium Project.

Technology Metals Australia Ltd (ASX:TMT) has received results from roasting test work on a bulk sample collected from the Gabanintha Vanadium Project in Western Australia.

Importantly, the test work confirmed the very high vanadium recovery rates of 84.9% to 90.7%.

This confirms the 85% recovery rate that is to be used in the definitive feasibility study (DFS), which remains on track for deliver in mid-2019.

TMT’s managing director Ian Prentice said: “The very important pilot scale test work, a key component of the delivery of a high quality definitive feasibility study, has confirmed the very high recovery rates for the roasting section of the process circuit.

“Delivery of the kiln design and operating parameters from kiln experts FLSmidth is the next vital step to be completed.”

Proactive recently caught up with the company to discuss the signed MoU regarding a vanadium offtake agreement with a China-based metal manufacturer.

Multiple work programs underway to complete DFS

During March 2019, TMT upgraded the measured and indicated resource for the Northern Block by 39% to 30.1 million tonnes at 0.93% vanadium pentoxide.

The global resource for Gabanintha is now 131 million tonnes at 0.9% vanadium pentoxide after adding the resource estimate for the Southern Block.

Mining studies incorporating the updated resource as well as the findings from the geotechnical studies and mine scheduling are nearing completion as a key input to the DFS.

Drilling to further define the potential initial process water source is also underway.

This roasting test work will also be used to estimate detailed process plant engineering costs for the DFS.
